Joe proposed to Marianne. Marianne said yes. I was there. It was rad.
Marianne is a wedding photographer in southern California, and ever since Joe contacted me many months ago about this super secret plan I’d been so excited to see it all happen. Basically, Joe convinced Marianne that their good friends (who live in the same hometown as M+J) wanted to do their engagement session in San Luis Obispo.
Then, Joe wrote an email to me (copying Marianne) asking for good engagement session locations in SLO. I responded that I happened to be shooting an engagement session that same night, and suggested a few locations for them.
It gave me the perfect opportunity to show up at the same location and time that they were shooting their couple, and that’s what happened. Joe and Marianne had just arrived in SLO with their couple, and a few minutes after they’d started shooting I showed up at that same location, and said that my couple was running late. How convenient – I could just hang out with them while they shot and wait for my couple!
Of course, my couple was fake. It was just a great excuse for me to be there when Joe “reached for a lens” for Marianne and came out with an engagement ring. She said yes, and it was amazing.
Right after that, we launched into their SUPER LEGIT ENGAGEMENT SESSION (Joe’s words) and had an awesome time. They were basically on a super-love-high the entire time. We got a beer afterwards, and it was so fun seeing how in-love they are. Their hands always managed to find each other across our table at Spike’s, and it was so fun hearing the joy in Marianne’s voice as she called her loved ones to inform them of the super news.
As we left Spikes I watched them walk away with their arms around each other. I’m so happy for these two people.
